“Climate Change in Our World” is an exhibit of large-scale color photographs by Gary Braasch, from his book Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World, Companion exhibit for kids, parents and school groups, “How We Know About Our Changing Climate” will highlight how scientists learn about climate change and include kids taking action, in the films “Young Voices on Climate Change.” Info here.

Sun, Nov 22, 2009 4:30-6:30 PM "Power Companies’ Dirty Plans for Maryland - Help Stop New Coal Power in Our State" - Balt Green Forum at Maryland Presbyterian Church, 1105 Providence Road, Towson, MD 21286 This presentation will begin with a showing of “Coal Country,” a film that tells of the dramatic struggle around coal mining in Appalachia. Coal is mined more cheaply than ever, and nationwide demand for electricity generated from burning this fuel is rising. However, what results from this process is chemical-filled air and water, as well as the destruction of an ancient mountain range. After the film, attendees will have the opportunity to hear about power companies’ plans to build new power lines through Maryland to import dirty electricity from coal from Appalachia and how they can help in the fight against these projects directions here.
