NSP Howard County NSP Candidate Survey Results and Voting Info

The NSP Howard County chapter sent a candidate survey to candidates for County Executive and County Council and to the Maryland candidates for U.S. Senate

See the responses from the Howard County candidates survey by clicking here .
You will see an 8 page file titled "nsp-hc.pdf" with the survey questions and responses from those candidates who were able to participate in the timeframe we provided.

We sent the NSP national survey to Maryland Senate candidates, and received a response from the Green Party candidate only. We did contact the other 2 candidates offices at least three times by phone and email, but they were not able or choose not to participate in our timeframe. Click here to open the file "NSPSurveyKevinZeeseResponse.pdf".

We started working on candidate surveys after our September meeting and based on our timeframe were not able to give the candidates as much time as we would have liked to.

Our local Howard County survey was inspired by the National NSP candidate survey which local NSP groups could adapt for local races, and was in the spirit of the NSP Spiritual Covenant with America. For the Maryland Senate race, we used the NSP national survey which was published in TIKKUN magazine.

We appreciate the gracious cooperation of candidates and their staff.

Cindy of the Howard Co. NSP chapter emailed today and asked us to visualize positive outcomes, if that is something we do as a spiritual practice, for the best possible results from the upcoming elections for the future of our Country, State and County.

And we can also take that inspiration and take action. Voting is a spiritual practice!

We encourage all to vote on November 7th and to encourage all you know to vote. For information about voting in Maryland see: http://www.elections.state.md.us/.

TRUE VOTE MARYLAND invites all to call their Election Day Hotline at 301-270-6150 if there are problems in voting! See also the truevotemd.org website for information on reforming the voting process in Maryland.

Use all the information and voter guide materials you have to make your best decision. Again, if you find this NSP-HC surveys helpful, please share them with others by giving them this URL, http://nspmd.blogger.com, or emailing them the files "nsp-hc.pdf" and NSPSurveyKevinZeeseResponse.pdf

If you applied for an absentee ballot already it must be mailed back by November 6 (earlier is better). You can also deliver it back in person. The State Election web site says:

"To be counted, the voted absentee ballot must be:

* Received by the County Board of Elections by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day; or
* Mailed before Election Day, bearing a postmark verifying that fact, and received from the postal service or private mail carrier by 10 a.m. on November 17, 2006."
